LEARNING PODS
What is a learning pod?
A learning pod is a group of staff who volunteer to engage in a structured process to facilitate their own learning and development.
How do learning pods work?
-
Staff are offered an opportunity to voluntarily join a learning pod

The learning pod commits to meeting on a regular basis, e.g. once a fortnight, once a month
-
At learning pod sessions staff identify barriers and enablers to work performance and share ideas and strategies to overcome barriers and enhance enablers.

-
Members will belong to a support network among peers.

It is a cost effective staff development process
-
It is a highly bespoke learning process for staff specifically focused on the organisation in which they work
-
It can lead to enhanced staff performance.
How is a learning pod set up?
-
An experienced facilitator is engaged to “sell” the learning pod concept to staff
-
The facilitator runs the initial learning pod sessions with group members
-
The facilitator trains pod members how to run learning pod meetings
-
The facilitator hands over the role of facilitator to a learning pod member
-
The facilitator evaluates the effectiveness of the learning pod meetings on a scheduled basis.
